As our population ages, it’s important to be aware of the dangers that natural disasters can pose to seniors. In Tennessee, we’re susceptible to a variety of disasters, including tornadoes, floods, and wildfires. That’s why it’s so important to have a plan in place to keep our seniors safe.
There are a few things to keep in mind when preparing for a disaster. First, make sure you have a list of emergency contacts, including your doctor, family, and friends. It’s also important to have a list of medications that you take, as well as any special medical needs you have. Be sure to have a first-aid kit on hand, and know how to use it. It’s also a good idea to have a supply of non-perishable food and water, as well as a way to cook food if the power is out.
If you have a senior in your life, be sure to talk to them about their disaster preparedness plan. If they don’t have one, help them to create one. It’s important to be prepared for anything, and with a little planning, we can keep our seniors safe in the event of a disaster.
