How to Handle Biohazard Cleanup in Disaster Situations

When disaster strikes, the last thing you want to worry about is how to clean up the mess. However, if you find yourself in a situation where you need to clean up biohazards, it is important to know how to do so safely.

There are four main steps to safely cleaning up biohazards:

1. Put on the proper personal protective equipment (PPE). This includes gloves, gowns, masks, and eye protection.

2. Remove the source of the biohazard. This may involve removing dead animals or cleaning up blood or other bodily fluids.

3. Clean and disinfect the area. Use a bleach solution or another EPA-approved disinfectant to clean all surfaces.

4. Safely dispose of any waste. This includes PPE, rags, and cleaning solutions.

If you follow these steps, you will be able to safely clean up any biohazard.
